If you aren't there at opening, you prob won't get a shaded spot. Many, at least 3-4 rides were not functioning or would break down throughout the day. Seemed to be an issue throughout the whole park. They are extreme with rules on certain rides. They would not allow us to wear our sandals or even watershoes in the line of the ride. The issue with this is the concrete was extremely hot on bare feet and there were large portions of the line in direct sunlight. Obviously you can not ride with your shoes, however, in other parks they allow you to hold your shoes to your chest or in your lap as you go down. The wave pool area was shoe chaos! Everyone was leaving there shoes infront of the entrance and every so often the employees would just push/throw all the shoes further away from the entrance. (Keep in mind there is no sign or designated area for shoes) When people came out, they could not find their shoes (all the while,concrete burning their bare feet) and they would just take shoes that did not belong to them. And so on and so on. Utter chaos.
Overall, as a Waterpark, not worth it. But as a quick place to cool off in between roller-coaster riding, sure ok.

We had a great time here with the kids. Rented a cabana and went in and out of the park. When it got to hot we went and cooled off in the pool. Sad the bay area is losing such an awesome asset.

South Bay Shores, the new waterpark at Great America, is a fantastic addition! The park's design is impressive, featuring new slides, restaurants, and plenty of seating. The wave pool and lazy river are especially enjoyable, catering to those who prefer a more relaxed experience. They offer convenient amenities like lockers, including extra-large ones, and cabanas available for rent. The Sand Bar next to the wave pool serves beer on tap and delicious flatbread pizza. Additionally, there's a Dip 'n Dots cart for tasty treats. Changing rooms and bathrooms are readily available, ensuring no long waits in line. However, some visitors have experienced frustratingly long lines at the restaurants, and the quality and pricing at Pier 76 were disappointing. On the bright side, Shark Bites provided a great experience with delicious food.

As I was about to ride the tube plunge slide ANAJE, the safety guard said the glasses weren't allowed. But the guard downstairs said that I would be able to deposit my glasses so that I could retreat it later, and I was planning on repeat rides. He said he doesn't know, so I lose my place at the front of the line and go all the way downstairs to put my glasses and get in line from the very start. Then, when it was almost my turn, a bunch of kids at my front called out their friend's name loudly, and at least 4 of them cut in line in front of me. I notified ANAJE that the kids have skipped the line. He again says he doesn't know if it's against the policy. He asks another lady beside him, shrugged, and says she doesn't know. I wish I could see her name, but she had flipped her name tag. The kids that cut in front of me apologize and go back to their place in line and I said to them "These kids are more responsible than these adults who are not doing the job they are paid to do." I checked CGA's code of conduct, and skipping line is indeed, 'Line Breaking-place holding in line' is not permitted. This is common sense what the hell is wrong with CGA's safety guards?! I have no personal feelings against ANAJE other than that he has failed to do his job. But I also think upper management is at fault here as they didn't educate and guide the workers here whom, in this case, lacked common sense and were ego tripping.

Really the best place ever visit in America yet we are the blessed time. The kids enjoyed a lot and of course myself the staff friendly. There was no lines so the kids did a lot highly recommended.
